Reporting to the Director of Underwriting, our experts address the needs of clients in outsourced underwriting, particularly for the analysis and evaluation of mortality and morbidity risks. The underwriter is responsible for assessing medical, financial, and non-medical risk factors in life, disability, and critical illness insurance applications. They make informed decisions aligned with underwriting guidelines and principles, while respecting established timelines and deadlines.
Your Future Responsibilities
- Evaluate complex mortality and morbidity risks to determine facultative reinsurance underwriting requirements;
- Provide technical expertise in medical and financial underwriting;
- Effectively manage complex and sensitive cases;
- Work autonomously within the limits of their signing authority;
- Support department leadership through contributions, training, team discussions, and participation in projects;
- Foster a positive work environment by promoting teamwork and innovation;
- Approve cases submitted by junior underwriters;
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring;
- Collaborate with other departments to share knowledge and support client-focused projects;
- Participate in industry events and activities while maintaining strong relationships with key clients.
Votre profil
- College or university degree or other relevant field of study;
- Minimum of ten (10) years of underwriting experience in the life insurance or reinsurance industry, including high-net-worth and complex cases (non-standard medical and financial risks);
- FLMI and FALU certifications are strong assets;
- Service-oriented mindset with strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with our partners;
- Bilingualism is an asset.
