Under the supervision of the Director of Underwriting, our experts handle outsourced underwriting needs, focusing on the analysis and evaluation of mortality and morbidity risks. The underwriter is responsible for assessing medical, financial, and non-medical risk factors in life, disability, and critical illness insurance applications. You will also make informed decisions based on underwriting principles and guidelines, while ensuring adherence to service deadlines.
Your future responsibilities
- Assess mortality and morbidity risks to determine underwriting requirements and classify files accordingly.
- Provide technical expertise and support to client companies.
- Manage challenging situations effectively.
- Operate independently within your signing authority.
- Actively support department management through contributions, training, leading team discussions, and participating in projects.
- Foster a positive work environment through teamwork and innovation.
- Participate in industry events and activities, and maintain strong relationships with key clients.
Your profile
- College or University degree or other relevant field of study;
- Minimum of eight (8) years’ underwriting experience in the life insurance industry (non-standard medical and financial risks);
- FLMI and FALU certification (a definite asset);
- Service-oriented attitude with strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with our partners;
- Bilingual (French is a nice-to-have).
